International Hour of Code Family Challenge at Dodgen!

Dodgen PTSA will be hosting again this year the Hour of Code Family Challenge during the week of December 4-10.

Our entire school is joining in on the largest learning event in history: The Hour of Code. More than 100 million students worldwide have already tried an Hour of Code.

The 'Hour of Code™' is a nationwide initiative by Computer Science Education Week[] and[] to introduce millions of students to one hour of computer science and computer programming.

Starting Monday, December 4th, visit to start a coding tutorial. Then complete our online form to log your hours and win daily prizes (Amazon, Barnes & Noble and Starbucks GC). Also, the challenge top Math classes per grade will receive sweet surprises! All family members of Dodgen students are invited to participate and log hours to help their student’s class win! This is a great opportunity to share quality screen time with your student and show them that learning is a lifelong endeavor.

Visit for more information.

Last year we had 853 hours logged; let’s reach the 1000

Keep calm and be a Dodgen Coder!

It's time for our annual Honoring Our Heroes essay contest! This program is designed for students to write about their real-life heroes and role models. Our theme this year is Everyday Heroes: The Power of One.  We are looking forward to reading their submissions about their heroes.  What a great opportunity to honor someone who may not even know what a difference they are making in your student's life!  This year, we are also adding a competition which will reward the Homeroom class in each grade that has the most students who participate in the program.  Click here for more information or an entry form.  Also, there are some additional entry forms available in the front office.  Completed entries are due January 17, 2018 and can be submitted to your homeroom teachers or to the front office. If you have any questions, please feel free to email our HOH Chair- Lindsey Poulos at
