SPEAKER SERIES: ORGANIZING STUDENTS FOR ACADEMIC SUCCESS

Thank you to everyone who attended our parent presentation on Organizing Students for Academic Success! My notes on some of the topics covered during the student assemblies is intended to spark conversations with your student on the subject.

Thank you to our Dodgen Security Panel of Speakers

On Thursday, August 23, we hosted several representatives from the administration at Dodgen, the Cobb County School District, the Cobb County School District Police Department and the Cobb County Police Department, Precinct 4.  Our guests discussed safety & security initiatives at Dodgen and Cobb County Schools. One takeaway from the sheer turnout of representatives is that the CCSD and the local police recognize the importance of this issue, are interested in hearing your concerns, and are supportive of our school.

Present at the meeting were:

Speakers

Dr. Loralee Hill, Principal of Dodgen Middle School

Dr. Robert Downs, Assistant Superintendent for Middle Schools, CCSD

John Floresta, Chief Strategy and Accountability Officer, CCSD

Officer Philip Bradford, Emergency Management Specialist, Cobb County School District Police

Officer Bill Kretzmer, Dodgen police officer, Cobb County School District Police

Major Brian Batterton, Cobb County Police Department, Precinct 4

Other guests

Sergeant Strayhorn, Cobb County Police Department

Lieutenant Dorsey, Cobb County Police Department

Scott Sweeney, Cobb County School Board, Representative, Post 6

Safety & Security is the #1 priority of the Cobb County School District.  We encourage you to watch a clip from the February 15, 2018 Board meeting where Mr. Chris Ragsdale, Superintendent, talked about safety and security initiatives.  Superintendent Presentation on ongoing safety initiatives

One program that Dodgen Middle School has implemented to address violence (as well as suicide & bullying) is called Sources of Strength.  If you would like to read more about it, please check out their website.
